Gather to Learn & Grow

Small Groups

Liberty Road Faith Fellowship provides an array of small group opportunities for learning and growing in Christian Faith.

More Information

If you are interested in participating in a group and would like more infomation please contact the church office.

Companions In Christ

Companions in Christ is a weekly small spiritual formation group. Spiritual formation is “. . .the process of being transformed to the image of Christ for the sake of others” (R. Mulholland, 1993).

Group participants learn about and share their experiences on their spiritual formation journey. The group also plans and carries out expressions of caring for others in the group, in the church, and in the community. If you are interested in participating in this group, please contact the pastor or the church office for more information (859-277-0420).

Grief Group

Grief is a normal, healthy human response to a profound loss of someone or some thing.

It can be powerful, painful, and disorienting physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. Grief manifests itself in a large variety of ways and, as we move through each stage, each of us will experience grief in ways that are unique to our situation.

No one need go through their journey alone.

Our Grief Workshops offer a “safe place” where everyone is welcome to process their loss and seek support. Each person is invited to process through their grief in their own time, and in their own way.

Sharing is invited, but participants are welcome to “pass” if they are not ready to engage in the discussion.

If you, or someone you know, has experienced a profound loss, you may benefit from a support group of co-journeyers.

Our Grief Workshops are held on the First Tuesday of each month at 11:00. Please contact Rev. Wood if you are interested in attending. You will find our hearts reaching out to you in the compassion and love of Jesus Christ.

Legends Breakfasts

Legends Breakfasts are a traditional monthly event on Saturday mornings.  Speakers share information or inspiration with those in attendance.

It is also an opportunity for members and guests to fellowship with each other. Upcoming Legends Breakfasts will be announced in The Current, and those who want to attend are asked to sign up at church or call the office at 859-277-0420 to make reservations so we have enough food.

Breakfast is $10.

Lunch and Learn

Lunch and Learn is an occasional mid-day event held at Kearns Hall.

While lunch is served, a speaker provides new and interesting information or perspectives on subjects that affect our lives.  Participants also enjoy fellowship around the tables.

Each Lunch and Learn session is announced in The Current, and those who want to participate are asked to sign up so we know how many lunches are needed.

Lunch is $10. Guests are always welcome!

Topical and Book Studies

Periodically, various topical and book studies are offered for those who wish to participate.

Upcoming studies will be announced in The Current, and those taking part are asked to sign up in advance so sufficient materials are available.

Recent examples include:
  • A six-week study entitled Christianity and Culture: Finding Theological Themes in Our 21st Century Experiences that brings together participants via Zoom technology. The group explores 21st century western culture through printed and social media, television, literature, music, and other media. This study is led by Rev. Lisa Wood.
  • Does learning a new language really exercise your brain? was a four-week Spanish class taught by Rev. Richard Dwyer. Participants learned useful conversations such as how to order in a Mexican restaurant, how to have a brief conversation with a Spanish speaker, and how to say the Lord’s Prayer in Spanish.
  • A four-week study of the book, From Aldersgate to Azusa Street, was led by Rev. Richard Dwyer. It discussed the life and times of John Wesley, The Wesleyan Methodist movement, and its contributions to the Holiness movement and Pentacostalism in the 20th century.
  • Rev. Lisa Wood led a study of the book, The Redemption of Scrooge, by Matt Rawle during Advent of 2020. These discussions were held via Zoom due to the COVID outbreak.
  • A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23, by W. Phillip Keller, was a book discussed via Zoom technology in the Spring of 2020. The study was led by Rev. Lisa Wood.
  • The Scriptures Sing of Christmas: An Advent Study for Adults, by J. Ellsworth Kalas was a four-week study let by Rev. Lisa Wood in 2022.

Women of Faith

Women of Faith (WOF)  is a wonderful way to meet new ladies in our church or get to know church friends better.

The group is for women of all ages and meets once a month, January – November. Meetings may be held either at the church or in someone’s home.  A variety of activities are planned for this period including interesting speakers, educational field trips, opportunities to help with state, local, and international missions, and participation and helping in other church activities. A pecan sale is held each year to raise money to support missions. Meetings start with a devotional, scripture and prayer, followed by a business meeting and program, and end with dessert!

Card Workshops

Friends are always welcome at our “Wild Cards” Workshops!

Held once a month, these 2-hour sessions are opportunities to gather and create greeting cards to send to friends and church members. Everything needed to make projects is included in the $10 fee. We always look forward to these times of camaraderie and creativity. Call the church office if you’d like to attend a workshop!
